By using Tūhura Standards you agree to these terms. They are written in plain language — please read them.

1. About this service

Tūhura Standards (“the service”) is a free, independent tool for finding and exploring standards registered on the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) Directory of Assessment and Skill Standards. It is operated by Tracey-Lee Pettifer and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with NZQA.

The service is provided free of charge. There is no registration, login, or subscription required.

2. Who can use this service

Tūhura Standards is open to anyone. It is designed for teachers, lecturers, students, and others in the New Zealand education sector, but there are no restrictions on who may use it.

3. Acceptable use

You may use Tūhura Standards for any lawful purpose. You agree not to:

Reasonable use by teachers, students, and educational professionals is always welcome.

4. Data accuracy and currency

All standards data displayed by Tūhura Standards is retrieved from the NZQA website and cached on the Tūhura Standards server. While we make every effort to keep data current, we cannot guarantee that it is always up to date or free from error.

You should always verify important decisions — such as those relating to curriculum planning, assessment, or accreditation — directly with NZQA at nzqa.govt.nz. Tūhura Standards is a convenience tool, not an official source.

5. No warranty

Tūhura Standards is provided “as is” and “as available” without any warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always available. The service may be taken down for maintenance or discontinued at any time, with or without notice.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by New Zealand law, Tracey-Lee Pettifer and Tūhura Standards shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, this service — including any decisions made based on information displayed by the service.

7. Intellectual property

The Tūhura Standards website, code, design, and original content are © 2026 Tūhura Standards. All rights reserved. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute any part of the service without written permission.

Standards data displayed by the service is sourced from NZQA and remains the property of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority. Tūhura Standards makes no claim of ownership over NZQA data.

8. Voluntary contributions

Tūhura Standards accepts voluntary one-off contributions via Ko-fi. These contributions are purely voluntary and do not entitle the contributor to any specific service, feature, or guarantee. No refunds are offered or required.

9. Privacy

Your use of this service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what data is and is not collected.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be available at tuhurastandards.co.nz/terms. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
